Master Taiji Kase

At the E.T.K.F Course on 18th November 2004, held by Chief Instructor Sensei Kawasoe, it was announced that Master Taiji Kase has passed away at the age of 75 years.

Master Kase is applauded by Masters, Shirai, Kawasoe and Naito after a Kata demonstration at the W.K.S.A European Championships, Modena, Italy, 1993

Sensei John Errington, on behalf of Sensei Kawasoe, explained to the E.T.K.F. Courses participants that Master Kase was one of the greatest Karate Masters of the 20th Century. Much of what we practise today in modern Shotokan karate was influenced by him.

We in the U.K.T.K.F. were very lucky to train under him on many occasions on Association Courses. His unique style was interesting and informative, he will be sorely missed.

Sensei Kawasoe requested a minutes silence in mokuso, at the beginning of the course, and asked that everyone dedicate the days training to the memory of Master Kase.
