BLACK BELT GRADING

Congratulations to Academy members Mark Goodchild, Bethany Wong, Dan Wightman, Alex Wightman, Steve Williams, Steve Rees, Mitchell Rayner, Jake Holliday, Billy Holliday, Bethany Linsley and Charlie Beaumont, who all passed their 1st dan grading, and a special well done to Ricky Wiseman and Jason Sanchez for passing the 2nd dan examination. ETKF Course and                  Dan Grading 2006

SHOTOKAN OPEN

The Shobu-Ippon Open Shotokan Championships were held on Saturday 13th May 2006. Westwood Academy members were placed first in six events and second in five.               For full Westwood results and pictures click here.

Dan Grade Presentation

Sensei Kawasoe visited the Academy on 4th March 2008 and during a break in the training made a presentation of a certificate to 17 of our black belts that he has recently graded.

England Call Up

Four of the Academy's top competitors have been chosen to represent England at the European Traditional Karate Championships to be held in Slovenia, May 2007. The event will be presided over by ITKF chief instructor Master H. Nishiyama 9th dan.

30 years - presentations.

After the usual excellent course with Sensei Kawasoe at the Academy on 6th July 2004, Academy Chief Instructor Sensei Alan Parrish was presented with a commemorative plate to mark the anniversary of his 30th year in Shotokan Karate.

By coincidence, 2004 also marks the 30th year that Sensei Kawasoe has been resident in the U.K. At the International Course in Edinburgh, this August, the U.K.T.K.F. presented  him with two swords, one a Samurai and one a British Broad Sword, to mark the anniversary.
