Marites Tomlinson and her son Chris set the standard for the rest of the Academy's students to follow. Marites won the black belt kata event for a record 3rd time in four years and also finished second in the kumite event.
Chris won the Cadet kata title and was pleased to receive some acknowledgement and words of encouragement from Sensei Kawasoe. He picked up another national title in the team kata event along with John Dickson Jnr and Alexander Bell. The lads also finished second in the team kumite event.
The senior team of Mike Gibbons, Way Main Wong and Lee Wiseman won the team kata event. A great achievement for Lee who had just turned 18 years old the weekend of the event.
Congratulations to green belt, Reg Waghorn on winning another gold medal for the Academy.
