The double National Champions are Rebecca Waghorn, Ian Ibrahim, Emma Church and Richard Maskell. Another Gold medalist for the Academy was Cadet, Chris Tomlinson. He won the individual Dan Grade Kata event, with Daniel Dunmore finishing in 3rd place. Chris and Dan teamed up with Taylor Smerdon to also win the Team Kata event. Another fantastic performance was put in by John Dickson Jnr. John, who only turned 18 years old the week before the championships reached the final of the men's Dan Grade Kumite. He was eventually beaten into second place by experienced British team member John Lowe from Rochdale, but only after giving his namesake a scare with a superbly timed ushirogeri to score wazari. In the men's Kata event, another Westwood youngster, 19 year old Lee Wiseman also performed brilliantly to take the silver medal. The black belt ladies Kata event saw Vicky Stevens go one better and take the title in one of the shock results of the day. Vicky has only very recently returned to the Academy after a five year absence and was competing for the first time as an adult. All in all, the Academy's members won a staggering total of 50 medals (counting team medals individually).
