black belt gradings
|
27th September 2020
|
Our Association black belt gradings were cancelled back in April of this year, due to the pandemic lockdown. This weekend, after initially training online at home and then more recently back in the dojo, 14 Westwood students were finally able to take their gradings in a socially distanced, Covid-Safe event held by the TSKUK at Waterside Farm Leisure Centre on Canvey.
We're pleased to say we had a 100% pass rate, and the following students passed their 1st dan examination; Jack Murray, Josie Turner, Joshua Gershinson, Victoria Turner, Rio Patel, Brooke Kent-Webster, Isabel Holland, Simon Watkins, Avyi Robinson, Megan Henly, John Grant, and Samara James. Hannah and Luke Mitchell were promoted to 2nd dan to round off a very successful day for the Academy. |

16 Westwood members had passed their black belt gradings back in November 2019, and now that the dojo was open, were able to come and be presented with their certificate on behalf of TSKUK. The students arrived one at a time to observe social distancing, and the presentation was carried out by Westwood chief instructors Alan and Carol Parrish.

On Monday 27th July 2020 we started classes again at our Honbu dojo. It was great to be back after 4 month's of closure due to the Coronavirus pandemic. All the new safety procedures were followed, everyone had their own 2.5m allocated training area, and it was so good to see some familiar faces in person again.
