Karate training takes the form of learning simple basic techniques, repeating, and refining them until you are eventually able to combine them into fluid complex combinations. Working with a partner, you'll start slowly with simple pre-arranged attack and defence and eventually, as your skill increases, work up to free sparring.
In addition to the improved fitness levels, and self-defence skills, there are many other benefits for adults and teenagers training in karate. Regular exercise improves energy levels, is proven to relieve stress, and help with anxiety and depression. Immersing yourself in a vigorous karate class allows you some time to break free from the stressors in your daily life, and can add up to huge benefits at home or in the workplace.

There is a strong bond formed between karateka (people who train in karate). If you can throw punches at each other one moment and laugh about it the next, you experience a special connection with your fellow students that few other activities can match. Being able to exercise while surrounded by a supportive community increases self-confidence and helps overcome shyness. We believe that karate should be enjoyable as well as educational.

In addition to the physical, mental health, and social benefits brought by training in traditional karate, there is also a sporting element for those that want to take part in competitions. Many of our students have competed abroad, and in fact some of our instructors are current and past European and World Champions.
